Little Dame Pop Up Show
The photos taken by local San Diego photographer Emily Corkery with RIYO Studios were so sweet and really portrayed the warm, comfortable vibes of the Phase Collection & D. Wrex pop up show at Little Dame Shop, I just had to share. Little Dame is a woman-owned shop featuring the artsy, weird, unique stuff you wish you could find in your community more often. Owners Katie and Simone host classes and workshops, art and vendor events, and really bring our little community together. It's wonderful to see their store thrive and I'm so grateful that they feature a few of my pieces in their shop! Visit their website here for some local San Diego art & other fun stuff.
The June pop up was a small event to feature music by Darrel Wood, a local musician and performer also known as D. Wrex, and a little art installation featuring Phase Collection jewelry. I mixed vintage French illustrations of various minerals and crystals, with the new concept of electroforming in the form of some of my jewelry pieces. It was a fun project to create for this event, and my crystals flowed nicely with the witchy vibes of D.Wrex's performance.
It was a simple concept for a warm night of friends and family, and to get everyone out to appreciate the little artist community that is North Park.
If you don't already know about D. Wrex, he is a one-of-a-kind musician with a degree in electro-acoustic composition, and a fantastic voice to go along with his talent on the guitar (let alone the piano, and many other instruments as well). He's in several bands in the San Diego area, and recently got back from his Wandering Witch tour - A performance art piece he created to perform in various art galleries and other spaces up the west coast. Check him out on Insta at @d.wrex, where you can keep up to date with all of his must-see performances when you're feeling like some "Monster Heels and Killer Wails" ;)
As for the vibes of the night, Little Dame has it all. It's such a cozy shop, small in size but big in heart & soul. They specialize in local art and jewelry, clothing and magazines, and the fan favorites bugs & taxidermy! Most of their inventory is by female artists as well, and I love a good feminine coven in the community ;) I'd also like to point out another boss babe Kristine of Prey and Profit (Check her out on Insta @preyandprofit). She makes beautiful framed bugs and butterflies that bring a room together like you've never seen...I honestly have one of her pieces in almost every room of my house.
THANK YOU to Little Dame for supporting local female powerhouses and artists, and providing a space for events to bring the artistic community together. If you're in the North Park area, stop by and say hi to these amazing women at Adam's & 30th.
